Principal For The Day

I have been told I am to be principal of my school for the day. I would make sure that there would be no homework and very little tests. I struggle with test sometimes and it can really bring down your grade a lot. I would have students finish their homework in class rather than do it at home. So they could have extra time for extra curricular and to study for any tests they need to retake. I would next have every other Friday be pajama day. There’s not a lot of pajamas days in the school year, sometimes you just want to wear pajamas to school and be comfortable. Next I would have every Friday and Wednesday be late start days. If we had double late start days students could sleep in an extra hour and could retake any tests or are behind on any assignments finish it at tutorial or homeroom two times a week. Lastly I would have the passing periods be a little bit longer. The students have to be at school for six to seven hours a day, after most passing periods I talk with my friends. Most of the times I don’t even get to talk with them because they’re so short. Hopefully one day I could be principal for the day.

Rad Reading – November

In November, I read the book City Spies by James Ponti. City Spies is a adventure fiction book about a young girl named Sara Martinez and how she is a hacker that broke into the New York City foster care system to reveal to everyone that her foster parents were lawbreakers, for her actions would make her face many years juvenile detention. Mother, a British spy who helps her get out of jail and into M16, British Secret Intelligence. The City Spies are five kids from different parts of world. Sara finds herself hacking into a rival’s computer preventing them from winning a million euros, climbing thirty feet off a side of a building and trying to defeat a villain. While trying to navigate her new family’s dynamics.

I really enjoyed the book because I was so entertained throughout the whole story from all information about Sara and the City Spies. I loved how Sara is the newest member of the City Spies, she is one of the smartest people in the group and starting to feel more comfortable with the rest of the group. I liked at the end of the story Sara gave Mother her old snow globe of the Brooklyn lighthouse, to put it by the window so it can guide his children back to him.

Sara was my favorite character, because she was adventurous and intelligent. Sara knew she had to prove herself to the group so they would take her seriously. Sara was given a task to find the meeting point in Edinburgh, the other members of the group decided to spy on her to get their first impressions of Sara. They were watching her making her way through the city, she heads to a Jewelry store. They were watching her try on watches and when the saleswoman turned away, she put it in her backpack. They didn’t take any other information about her and just thought she’s a thief. Later when they’re at dinner they blurted out that she’s a thief, Mother and Sydney thought it wasn’t possible but Sara told them about why she was late. She gave mother the box because he lost his watch. When he opened it there was nothing. So she fooled the whole group, she explained how she fooled everyone. Sara was an intelligent character, and I can prove this quote “I’m sorry to have done this, but I had to prove to the others that I was up to the challenge. No matter what you and Sydney told them, they would’ve had their doubts about me.” (pg.111)

My favorite quote from the book is when Sara went to see mother and he was staring out the window. And Sara is figuring out how he found everyone while searching for his kids. Sara decided to give him a present. It was her old snow globe of the Brooklyn bridge, to put it by the window so it can guide his children back to him. He didn’t want to take it from her, since it helped her guide her family back to her. She tells him, “I don’t need it anymore, I found my family.” This is my favorite quote because this was very meaningful to Sara, and she always thought it would help her family find her, and her family did find her.

The Dancing Monkeys

I have always loved to dance. My family doesn’t like dancing or people who dance. When I’m alone I will dance, but when I’m around my parents I never dance. I have always wanted to be a professional dancer, it’s my family who stands in my way of completing my goal. I grew up with my parents and my older brother, my parents searched for food and run and leap through the trees. My brother used to love dancing, but my are very strict about dancing. I have never realized why though. I finally learned why. Before I was born I had another brother. He was a famous professional dancer, he train and dance for seven hours a day. Since he was dancing for so long, there was an increased risk of stress fractures and many other injuries. He had many injuries and had lots of stress, he ended up having a stroke. This is the only reason why my parents never let me and my brother dance. I never got to achieve my dream of dancing, but I’m still trying to find a new dream.
